A Chance to Whistle, the exhibition, was a celebration of the French comedy director, producer, actor and international mine artist Jacques Tati. Exploring the nature of communication using new time-based media technologies, the interactive exhibition took place on all three floors of the De la Warr Pavilion, Bexhill, each room inspired by the films of Tati.
studiofish created an interactive work that enabled users to explore a selection of clips from Jacques Tati films, giving them the ability to mix and match events and triggers to define their own narrative connecting multiple films. A control interface was built into a coffee table in a ‘lounge’ style installation to encourage users to sit together and share the experience.
Exhibition devised by David Furnham and supported by Sophie Tatischeff, Middlesex University and the AHRB.
Exhibited 29 July 2000 to 24 September 2000
